Week 22- Empty Stomachs and Empty Wallets

25 more days til Christmas!!

Wow what a week it has been for us! Lots of things have happened and its the holiday season! We first off had a spectacular Thanksgiving feast at the cambells! We had a feast of the typical foods except no turkey sadly, The turkey here is extremely expensive, like 400 Rand for a little turkey like as big as the Costco Chickens, but that doesn't mean me and Elder Hunt didn't stuff ourselves! Fist time that Elder hunt has ever been full, this guy has got a black hole for a stomach, or maybe its just his extremely fast metabolism. But this week he wasn't so crazy because we had no food! Our bokki got robbed and they stole me and hunts money and my camera! So we literally just survived on thanksgiving left overs and rice... hahaha a little malnourished this week but hey me made it!  What a blessing the holidays are! haha But other than that me and hunt are rocking the christmas music and are pretty excited! This week we attended the sisters funeral that passed away last week, it was very nice and hundreds and hundreds of people were there for the burial, i said the prayer and we talked to as many people as we could. We want people to see that the family is apart of our church and that we are still human just like them. But let me tell you, when your the only white person amidst a thousand black people its weird! Not even my comp is white! like i don't mind when i walk into a store (like as big as Walmart would be) and your the only white person but the funeral was definitely something else especially when you say the prayer for the service! But it was nice!  This week was difficult getting people to come to church, we had so many investigators and less actives promise to come to church but none of them did! It was discouraging honestly, i had to constantly fight mentally with my self that i did the best i could and the spirit was present in all our lessons, but i know that me and Elder hunt have tried our best. We are hopeful for next week, this area is just simply lazy! The total members could of compiled to two branches right now but no one wants to act upon what they know to be true. This is a problem for the WHOLE district in other near by areas. In the 90's the church was so powerful and was growing so fast but now its just dormant. We have lots of work to do here, which will never end. Difficult this week but what reward would we receive if we had no major trials in our work? Just a chance to grow strong and make better use of ourselves. This next week we should have several people on date and are excited for them! Love you all and hope you are all having a great holiday season!
